A Shining Blog

Have you ever seen a field of Helianthus, or more commonly known as the sunflower? It is the most beautiful sight when you are to the east of the field in the morning, or to the west in the evening. The sunflower follows the sun from the moment it appears in the eastern sky to the last moments before the sun goes down in the west.

I was privileged, while living in north-eastern Colorado, to see this phenomenon.  The sunflower stands straight, tall, and unperturbed by passing cars or buzzing bees.  Their devotion to the sun is unbelievable.  I don't know that it is humanly possible to be completely devoted to anything in such a way.  We may try with family and friends, but we fall short of fulfilling complete faithfulness.  There are some that come close, and when you meet someone with the qualities of the sunflower it is hard not to feel inspired to do better and try harder to achieve the devotion the sunflower displays.
