Have you ever been invited to review a book, the title grabs your attention, and without reservation you agree to review the book?
Today I was supposed to write a review for just such a book. It was written by a psychologist... need I go further?
Over the past few years I've become a non-fiction junky. I enjoy reading self-help books, but I'm usually pretty choosy about the authors. A little research into their background, interests, and previously published books or articles lets me know if I'll be edified by a book. I've learned the hard way though, anyone who believes the Bible word for word from cover to cover has to be careful about what they read from other authors.
This book came in the mail, I read the first few pages, and immediately felt this book was not for me. A couple of days later I tried to pick it up again. To no avail. Even skimming through the pages was an uncomfortable experience. So, I put it down forever.
I want to apologize for not being able to give a more complete review, but really MY spirit is at peace about it.
(You can ask, but I won't tell you the name of the book. Just a little advice, if the book has a title with words you normally equate to Christian content, beware.)

I love your honest thoughts. I think you should only read and review a book that you feel good about. I appreciate your candor on this one

Like you I have moved away from fiction and read mostly non-fiction. I just finished Ask My Why I Hurt, about Dr. Randy Christensen, who started a mobil medical van to treat homeless children in Arizona. It was very good.
