Finding peace

I'm at peace with an empty "To do" list...  for now.  In the past I've written all the things I've wanted to get done on a list.  Then anxiety sets in and the only thing I've accomplished is added to my paper clutter.

This time I'm really trying to trust God to guide me.  There is a part of me that keeps raising the silly notion I'm not getting enough done, but then I remember Who is setting the pace.

It wasn't until yesterday that some major housework was completed.  My son and I tackled our cluttered dining room, the kitchen cupboards were cleaned and re-organized, our laundry was washed and put away, and the bathroom got a deep cleaning.

Whew, that is quite a bit isn't it?

Monday and Tuesday I even focused a little attention on my closet, and tried to weed out all the items I know won't ever be worn again.  This has always been a difficult task because there hasn't been room in my budget for new clothes in years.  This is a huge step in trusting God, and I'm at peace with the opportunity to share with others.

One tip I can share this week is to stop looking at the big picture.  As you look at all the chaos and mess zoom in like a camera to one area, and tackle it a little at a time.  If this little area is all you get done this week, have peace in that.  Trust God and peace will come.

  1. Allowing God to set the pace. In the past I have set too many things to do on my daily list. But if they are on there I think they have to be accomplished so I either act like wonder woman and accomplish it or feel guilty because I wasn't productive enough. Now I see what my problem is -- I set the pace myself. Thank you for your insight.

  2. Or better yet, Pamela, let God set the pace. "He knows the plans he has for us..."

I also like to listen to "Jesus take the wheel" by Carrie Underwood while I'm working.

Does anyone else have any good ones?

  3. I loved this one. I really need to dejunk my house and it will need to do it at a slow pase this year, I have had some health issues foa a wnile so this has slowed me down. I don't even have the Christmas decorations put away yet. I do like the idea of listening to the spirit direct what I do each day.
    Blessings to you!

  4. It sounds like you are doing really well both in getting things accomplishes and on trusting/waiting on God.

  5. Focus on one small area. That is great advice that I think I just need to hear everyday!
