A Woman Of Noble Character

"Women of God can never be like women of the world.
The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender.
There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind.
There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined.
We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith.
We have enough greed; we need more goodness.
We have enough vanity; we need more virtue.
We have enough popularity; we need more purity."

If you are a blogger who I have been following you may have noticed I haven't been visiting as much as I had been last year.  I apologize for that, and I am hoping to return to my regular visits soon.  You may be asking why and some of you may already know, but to explain for those who don't I have been concentrating on my family this last month.

My home has suffered from neglect, and my family suffered from my indifference.  I named this year Reclaim for a reason.  I am not proud of my behavior, nor the attitude I adopted for the past few years.  I put my desires before my family and allowed depression to take over my daily existence.  I want to make a lot of changes in 2011, and I am starting off on more stable ground because of my absence from the blogosphere.

Starting next week I would like to throw a challenge out for anyone willing to participate.  Celebrating A Day In Our Life is wonderful and being grateful for the many blessings God has bestowed upon us is good, but are we blessing those around us with strength and dignity.  Isn't it more important to be A Woman of Noble Character?  Are we worthy to be rewarded for all we do?

Let's take a few weeks to share how we are living a Proverbs 31 life.  Here is the challenge:

Week 1:  Proverbs 31:10-12  Are you a virtuous and capable wife more precious than rubies?  Does your husband trust you, and do you enrich his life?  Do you bring him good everyday?  Write a post about something you would like to change about yourself, and something you love about yourself.  How does this add to the enrichment of your husband's life?

Week 2:  Proverbs 31:13-15  Do you plan and prepare for the day?  Do you start the day with a quiet time with the Lord?  Are you ready to meet the challenges of the day?  Write a post about how you set aside time to plan and prepare for yourself and your family everyday.  Whether it be meal planning, scheduling, grocery lists, chores, or what you do to make sure you have time for Bible study and prayer with God.

Week 3:  Proverbs 31:16-18  Are you thrifty and frugal?  Do you take care of yourself by exercising and eating right?  Write a post about how you are spending wisely and/or any ways in which you are making healthier choices to ensure you are energetic and strong.

Week 4:  Proverbs 31:19-21  Do you extend a helping hand to the poor and needy?  Is your family prepared for the possibility of a need?  Write a post about how you are helping the unfortunate, and how you are setting aside for a day when your family may be in need.

Week 5:  Proverbs 31:22-24  Are you or a family member always hunting for a clean pair of socks?  Does the laundry seem to be getting the best of you?  Maybe you are always behind on doing the dishes.  Write a post sharing  how you deal with the never ending loads of laundry and dishes.

Week 6:  Proverbs 31:25-27  Do you tend to let your emotions control your attitude?  Are there more kind words mixed with laughter coming from your lips, or are they harsh and demoralizing?  Write a post about something you have said or done that you need to forgive yourself for.  Is there someone you need to forgive or who has let you down?  Write about it.

Week 7:  Proverbs 31:28-29  Has your husband and/or children done something or given you something you did not expect?  Write a post about how your family has blessed you.

Week 8:  Proverbs 31:30-31  Write a post about all your hopes and dreams.  Write about something you have always wanted to do or did do.  Write a list of all the things you love about your life.

If you are willing to join me in this challenge this weeks link up is for that purpose only.  You do not have to write your first post for this challenge until next week.  If you do, you are one step ahead of the rest of us.  =)  In an effort to be real and transparent I offer an open mind and heart to all who want to step out on a limb with me.  It will not be easy to reflect on some attitudes and actions where we have fallen short, but in the final week I believe God will have cause to smile on our willingness to be more of what He expects.
